Known for its distinctive labels such as Haginotsuru, Hiwata, and the playful Megane Senyo (“For Glasses Only”), Hagino Shuzo in Miyagi Prefecture has built a reputation for both craftsmanship and creativity. Since beginning production in its new brewery in 2012, it has pursued ever-greater quality with meticulous attention to hygiene and precision. At the same time, as one of the driving forces behind the success of the sake event Wakate no Yoake (“Dawn of the Young Brewers”), the brewery’s eighth-generation head continues to look at the industry from a broad, forward-thinking perspective.
