In Fukuoka exists a brewery who despite 80% of its sake being consumed within the prefecture, is known throughout the country. Takahashi Shoten, most well-known for its brand "Shigemasu" has been brewing sake loved by locals, unmoved by any fickle trends. Even in headwinds like the shochu boom and fierce sales competition that threatened to the sake industry, the brewery stood steadfast to its local-first principle. Behind it was the brewery’s unrivalled pride as a "ginjo brewery" and two pinnacle decisions made, which staked its survival.
